Bradycardia and Cerebral Palsy sufferers

I was born with mild CP and am left hemiplegic. I have managed my life quite successfully and certainly for the first 18 years of my life was under Great Ormond Street Hospital. No Bradycardia has ever been noted on my health records.
A couple of years ago, I began blacking out. I was under a lot of stress at work from a colleague. My pulse rate charts showed an average pulse of 40 (and lower). I had a pacemaker inserted and it is set at 40. Follow up checks show that it "kicks in" 25% of the time.
My question is how would I get bradycardic pulse of 40 when presumably previously it was "normal". Is it because I suffer from CP or is it the result of the stress from which I suffered at the time?
Any comments or experiences would be greatly appreciated.

I can say with certainity that it was not the stress. Were that the case people would be falling out all over the place. The connection with CP is harder to disprove. There are links with the central nervous system and the control of heart rate so it is possible that there is a relationship between the two. Regardless of the cause you have the appropriate treatment, provided you haven't fainted since implant, and should do fine with the pacemaker.
