Bypass after stent?

Bypass after stent?

I have plaque in my left main.  On Wednesday I am going in for an angiogram.  If there appeared to be blockage the cardiologist noted that he is able to put a stent in the left main.  A nurse from another hospital told me today that if you put a stent in that short left main and it doesn't work you can't have a bypass.  Is that true?  If true should I tell my cardiologist not to put the stent in and head for the cleveland clinic?  This just gets scarier and scarier.    Is there anyone out there with experience in left main difficulties?
Thank you
