CABG check up

CABG check up

My hubby had a CABG done a few yrs ago, we were told that it is basically standard procedure to have the graft etc checked for clogging,in about 5-6 years, if this is true he will be due to have that done, also how do they check for more clogging during that time period/whenever I guess.
Thanks so so much

Grafts typically aren't checked unless the patient develops new symptoms.  The way to check the grafts is via a cardiac catheterization, which I'm sure your husband has had prior to his bypass surgery.  If your husband feels well he likely doesn't need any further testing.  If he is somewhat sedentary, some physicians will monitor these patients with a stress test to see if his heart shows strain when it is working hard.

Best of luck.
