CHEST PAIN DURING NUCLEAR STRESS TEST

CHEST PAIN DURING NUCLEAR STRESS TEST

I'm just very concerned about my Dad, who a year ago had a cardiac cath with subsequent stent placement (3 placed).  He was having a nuclear stress test recently (as followup to the procedure) and experienced some burning chest pain that went to his throat which was relieved by nitroglycerin spray.  That was during the injection of the medication from what I understand.  I'm concerned because at the end of the test some inverted t-waves were noted...what could that mean?  Is he looking at another cath?

I'm not a doc, but I don't think it's out of the ballpark for the docs to want to do another cath to make sure a blockage hasn't occured--post stent placement.

I had some angina after a nuke stress post stent placement, and I was sent to the ER, and was cathed to rule out an occlusion of the stent.

Good luck!

I agree with AlDente, I don't think another catherization would be an unreasonable step - particularly in someone with known disease.

THANKS FOR YOUR ADVICE!!  THE NUCLEAR PORTION REVEALED NO REVERSIBLE ISCHEMIC CHANGES WHICH IS GOOD.  IF THEY DO CATH HIM, IT'LL BE PRECAUTIONARY.
