CHOL/HDLC RATIO

I recently received my blood test results from my cholesterol screening and I'm not sure of the meaning of my ratio. which is 2.8.  My HDL is 72, LDL is 114, Triglucerides are 96.  I swim daily, but I do have MS and about 28 years ago was told I have Mitral Valve Prolapse, which I don't take anything for and also have no symptoms.  Can you tell ,me if my ratio is good or not.  Thank you.

Your HDL is incredible, excellent.  I would like to know what you are eating or if you are taking any fish oil, because I would love to get mine up that high.  LDL should be about 100, but you could bring that down easily.  Triglycerides are good.  The HDL is the good cholesterol and you want that high.  LDL is the bad cholesterol and Triglycerides are bad and very hard to get down when they are high.  Triglycerides are worse for clogging up arteries than LDL.  As far as I can tell, blood work looks great!  Keep up the good work.

Thanks for responding.  Yes I do take a combination of Omega 3-6-9 daily.  Also I've been a salmon eating vegetarian for approximately 20 years.  I used to be very  active when I was younger, but due to MS the only activity that I participate in regularly is swimming, which I've always done.  I used to walk, jog, run, play tennis, and bike.  Walking isn't as easy as it used to be, so I try to eat right.  I don't know how to lower my LDL, but when I looked it up it said that with the other factors being so good that it was also okay.
