COULD IT BE Postural Hypotension ?

  WHEN MY  13 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER IS RELAXED AFTER A FULL DAY  , UPON RISING SHE SAYS SHE FEELS LIKE THE BLOOD RUSHES FROM HER HEAD TO HER TOES AND SEES ALL BLACK THEN WHITE WITH BLACK SPECKS . THESE ONLY OCCUR IN THE MORNING  SOMETIMES .BUT HAS THEM EVERY AFTERNOON INTO THE EVENING ANYWHERE FROM 3 TO 6 A DAY ! THANKS FOR ANY INSIGHT !

Dear Brooks,
Yes, it very well can be postural hypotension, especially if your daughter has a low normal blood pressure to start; this is compounded by the fact that she may
not be drinking enough water/liquids throughout the day.  If she is not actually passing out, try increasing her fluids and salt intake plus have her GET UP SLOWLY(from lying, she should sit up with her feet dangling over the side of the bed or chair, then slowly stand up.)
If she is passing out, or if the increased fluid and salt per day does not provide improvement, or if her pediatrician has no knowledge of these episodes, YOU SHOULD
absolutely take her in to see him for a full history and physical.  This is his/her field and it is his/her patient, thus s/he should know about the events.  Good Luck. Write again if you have any further questions.
