Calcium Channel Blockers and Effects on Exercise
I am a 28yo male.  About a month ago I went to the ER because I was experiencing some pretty uncomfortable chest pains.  I was admitted after my EKG showed irregularities and ST elevation.  A cath showed no blockages and no damage, but my troponin levels had risen to 5.82 24 hrs after the episode.  I am told that it was a coronary artery spasm/variant angina.  I am now taking an extended release Ccb (nifedipine).  I am a very active individual and I eat well.  What effect is the Ccb going to have on my exercise abilities?  I

i don't think that you'll have too much of an effect from nifedipine.  betas may make you more tired.  what i would watch for is excessive fluid build up in your legs and feet from nifedipine.

i have had coronary artery spasms but controlled with Cardizem & nitro.
