Calcium-channel blockers and VT

Calcium-channel blockers and VT

Hi,

I was recently told I have episodes of non-sustained VT, as well as SVT that is possibly triggered by the VT.  Thankfully, I've never had more than about 6 beats of VT at a time.  The cardiologist that first saw me put me on Diltiazem (a Ca channel blocker), but it hasn't prevented the VT.  She was reluctant about an EP study, saying that I should try medication before I do that procedure because of the possible complications.  So far, medication has not worked.  After I saw her, I saw an electrophysiologist who said that since it seems like I have 2 arrhythmias, I really should have the EP study done.  What is your opinion about an EP study/ablation attempt?  And, if you think it is a good idea, do you think I need to keep taking the Diltiazem until I have the EP done since it doesn't seem to be preventing the VT?  I would rather not take a medicine for my heart ( I already have low blood pressure, for example) if it's not really helping me.
I have an appointment scheduled at Mayo next month for a consult./EP study.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Nevermind, I also thought this was the place to ask the doctor a question.
