Calcium deposite on Stent

by robinnaik, Apr 22, 2003 12:00AM
What kind of diet I should take in order to have least calcium deposite on the stent? Why I was specificaly told to take low calcium diet? There are many patient who are not told to keep this precaution. Why there is more chance of calcium formation on stent in my case?

Dear Robinnaik,

The question you are asking is in regard to the prevention of instent restenosis. Consuming a low calcium diet has not been shown to decrease the incidence of instent restenosis. However, I would recommend a healthy diet which includes increasing the amount of fruits, vegetables and the consumption of broiled or grilled fish and chicken. You should also consider starting a regular exercise regimen. Hope this helps.

Thanks for your question,
