My understanding has always been that beta blockers reduce the sensation but not necessarily the amount of PACs or PVCs most of the time. It's more of a comfort measure in people with benign palpitations. I don't know if it would "stop working", I think it's less likely, but everyone's body is different.
hey , to answer your question . i think it does not stop working , i took timolol for 15 years it was still working but my dr wanted me to go on a newer drug because my pac were really bad, i to take atenolol 25mg a day now been on it 7 days today , have been real tired and weak did you go throught that and how long do you remember . my dr says a bb is a bb and this kind does not build up in system so, they tell me you do not get used to it, maybe you need to up the does a little, call your dr. my dr told me i can take up to 100mg aday if i need to , but at 25 mg it makes me tired and takes my blood pressure low so maybe when my body gets used to it ,i can take extra. my timolol worked great but when the pac come i dont think theires not stopping them, it will help to surpress them but they will be there , i still have them today but they are not as bad. talk to your dr . and i wish you good luck
