Can Peripheral Neuropathy Cause Arrythmias?

I have recently been diagnosed with Multifocal Motor Neuropathy which is a form of peripheral neuropathy (or so I am led to believe). I suffer from constant multiple ectopic beats, which are worse on changing position and any sort of exertion. They began at the same time as my neurological symptoms. I would like to know if Peripheral Neuropathy can cause PVC's, as I am led to believe it can affect the autonomic nervous system. I also experience dizzy spells and cold sweats.

Dear Dr. Rachey,
I am not aware of any association between peripheral neuropathy and PVCs.  I suppose if the autonomic nervous system (ANS) is affected than there may be an increase in PVCs.  The dizzy spells and cold sweats could certainly be due to autonomic involvement.  There are neurologists who specialize in the ANS and I would suggest seeking the opinion of one of them.  You can find one near you at ndrf.org.

I also would LOVE to know the answer to this.  I have A LOT of neurological symptoms that have not been diagnosed yet, but in the past year have had a worsening of palpatations.  Periods of 2-3 weeks where they are constant if I am doing any kind of movement, but seem fine when sitting still.  Then they can go away for a month or 2, and I can do any kind of exercise with no palpations. Waiting the results of an event monitor test where I recorded MANY of these episodes. But very curious if neurological problems can cause these PVC's and PAC's. I am diabetic, postop CABG and AVR (St.Jude) and have had palps
and irregular beats from day one. EKGs, Echos and holter monitors
have indicated everthing fine with CABG and AVR. Palps and
misbeats get worse with upset stomach and have recently been
diagonised with gastroparesis which is a form of neuropathy. On
Reglan 10mg which seems to help but the palps and irreg beats do
occur at anytime particularly with physical exertion and the wrong foods. Since the reglan is helping then there must be a
neurological connection to the palps and irregular beats. Could there be a vagus nerve connection? Would appreciate hearing from anyone else with these symptoms and any remedies suggested.

In answer to the question about the vagus nerve being involved.

From my own experience of AF and other neurological problems (GM seizures, apnoea, tics in the extrmities etc)I was always convinced there was a conection. I have since learnt that Lone AF can be triggered by the autonomic nervous system. The Vagus nerve to be precise. Typical vagal AF comes on at night, after eating and when relaxed. As opposed to when exercising, when in a stressful position etc. Vagal Afibbers are also of a younger age at onsought and are often atheletic. Also beta blockers are contraindicated for it. This was a real eye opener for me. My Dr had never heard of it, it is still a relatively new. But will be seeping down through the literature to a Dr near you, sooner rather than later, I hope.
