Can doxycycline cause my arrhythmia?

I have been taking Doxycycline for about ten days now. It is the only new thing that I have done in the last month. In the last three days I have been feeling chest discomfort, shortness of breath and have PVCs. Could this be a side effect of the antibiotic. I also have a tooth waiting for extraction next week, but is not bothering me at all.

This discussion is related to antiobiotics and arrhythmias.

Thanks for your care and concern. Looking into my medical record I had this symptoms last year and I was also in doxycycline for twelve days. My little problem has been diagnosed as Esophagitis which has been documented as one of the side effects of doxi. Every symptom was pinpointed completely as described in a journal article. Your advice is noted for future discussion with my MD. In the mean time All the symptoms are gone as I discontinued the doxi, and I scheduled a stress test for the end of the month just to be in the safe side. Thank you and have a wonderful Christmas.

You need an appointment with a cardiologist and request a color dopplar of the heart immediately. Not two weeks from now. As of yesterday. This is a two-part exam. Do not accept only the external view.Dental infections often migrate to the bloodstream and then to the heart valve. I'll bet the infection was never culturd snd it may be entirely resistant to Doxycycline. Shortness of breath if NOT a side effect of Doxycycline.
