Can my Heart be fix?

Hi, I'm 23yrs old sg male. I had this congenital heart problem since I was born. I see 2 heart doctors and they told me that my heart can't be fix as the risk is too high and that I start taking this heart medicine which was prescribe by my doctor. He said this heart medicine could prolong my life living. My spo2 is always 75-80 that's my normal level. I want to know is there really no cure for my heart? Kindly please I need experts/professional advice from doctors!

It's hard to say without knowing exactly what the problem is. If it's in the heart itself,  there's always the possibility of a heart transplant if regular heart surgery won't fix it. Those aren't easy to get though. If your heart isn't working as well as it should then most doctors recommend certain medications to help improve the heart's function. Again, we don't know exactly what's wrong with your heart.

I am providing a link that may help you.  It is difficult to comment on your heart condition without knowing the underlying cause for your low oxygen level.  If  the heart it could be due to a hole in the heart (wall that separates left and right side) where the low oxygen (de-oxygenated blood) from the right side of the heart is shunted to the left side and as a result the output of blood pumped into circulation would be deluded with the rightside blood (lower than normal oxygen level).  Would need more information if related to the heart.

Has no one mentioned you being evaluated for a heart transplant? If not, talk to your doctor about this.

I did ask my doc before but he told me the prob is not getting heart transplant. He said that my lung should get transplant instead but then again getting lung transplant it's very risky. My heart condition yup theres a hole in the heart and yup the doc said my blood circulate only 1 way(eg.my blood pump in from the right and goes out from the right too) when I was young I had undergo quite a few surgery before and cos of my heart prob the doc did told my parents before that I'll get stroke 1 day and I had this stroke attack back in 2008 and had to operate my right side brain as there's a blood clot need to remove. My stroke is hemorrhagic stroke. I've been advice by heart doc not worth taking the risk to put my skull back anyway thanks for the advice from you guys. Thank you. God Bless.

I am writing to you because your message touch my heart . I am struggling now my friend because We are in the same boat, My wife is pregnant 19wk with baby diagnosed yesterday with congenital heart problem, it is the first pregnancy after 8 years infertiliy ( via IVF procedure) ..we have 2 options which is continue or temination....It's VERY HARD to take decision. Dr said the baby will need 3 surgeries within the first 2 years and we don't know what we expect from complications..... my wife and I are dying ..:(

Hi, I'm sad to read about your prob but I remember my doc told me before every new born baby there is bound to have a hole in the heart but some will heal the hole itself some nv heal like mine yes there is a need to have the surgery and some after surgery will be healed. This is a hard time you and your wife are going through. Always remember that medicine has come so far through these years, babies who would have once died now have surgeries and go on to lead normal lives. My daughter's Godfather is a pediatric cardiologist as is another good friend of ours. I remember them telling me once that they could treat CHD in 95% of the children either with medicine or with surgery. That is a VERY high success rate. My daughter fell, unfortunately into the remaining 5% and eventually had a heart transplant. This baby, if allowed to be born, will teach you so much and most of all will give you a strength few parents will ever know. My prayers are with you. Take care

It's complicated congenital heart disease called   Situs Solitus, levocardia. Double inlet LV. Small anterior and rightward RV. Unrestrictive VSD. V-A discordance. baby will go for 3 surgeries know as Fontan procedure over 3 years and after that he/ she will not back to normal

I got your note and there are so many things going on that for now it sounds like you will be taking medications the rest of your life. If it was just a single valve problem or just a hole in the heart, they would probably try to fix it. But with so many things, the best they can do is manage it with regular check ups and medication, changing them as needed. Don't be discouraged if they change your medication now and then. They will adjust it to keep your heart working as well as it can. My Dad went through that and it was quite helpful.

Be sure to work on keeping the blood pressure down. That puts more strain on the heart and can damage other organs.
