I'm 27 years old woman.
For past five years I've been experiencing severe headache, lasting anywhere from 4h - 48h accompanied by nausea and vomiting. I experience nausea and vomiting only when my headache lasts overnight, but unfortunately, it's often. At first I had my pain episodes once every 6 months, now, during last 2 months I've had 16 episodes. I keep a diary). Back in January I lost consciousness during one particularly bad pain week, I was hospitalised, and put in neurology department. I've had CT, MRI and EEG done, the only thing found on CT and MRI was slightly dispositioned cerebellum - 3mm below foramen magnum. But my neurologist said it could be a coincidence, because for Arno - Chiari diagnosis, which could fit my symptoms, there has to be a greater disposition of cerebellum.
Sorry, that my question is so long, but I don't want to miss out any important details.
My neurologist also said I might have Marfan syndrome. I'm 193cm, rather skinny, but to be sure she referred me to cardiologist and geneticist. She ordered ECHO as well, and they found out I have dilated thoracic aorta - 41mm.
So - I'm still waiting for both consultation, it's really hard to get to them in my country, but..
I was reading a couple of articles about heart diseases and so on, and found out that women can show symptoms such as severe headache, nausea, vomiting and discomfort/chest pain in case of a heart disease.
I can't tell that I've experienced any discomfort in my chest during my previous headache episodes. The pain is usually so bad, that I'm barely noticing anything around me, so a minor chest discomfort could slip unnoticed. But I started to experience some discomfort in my chest 2 days ago. Tightness, not really pain, but it continued until today, and now I have very severe headache accompanied by vomiting.
I'm going to see a doctor tomorrow, but is it possible, that I have made the right connection between my headache and my heart? Because I already have dilated aorta, I hope not, but something else might be wrong as well with my heart. Also, I think it is important to mention, over the years I've tried a lot over the counter and prescription pain and nausea medication - nothing helps at all. Maybe it's because the problem really is in my heart?
I'd appreciate some opinions from healthcare professionals.
Thank you in advance.
