Can a stress test CAUSE plaque to break off and bring on an MI and/or subsequent death? Isn't stress testing just a diagnostic tool to find out if you are having any cardiac problems? A stress test would not make plaque erupt causing an MI?
There is always a Risk factor with any stress test done ! however if you have a good Cardiologist , and he knows your medical History well, I think he would know what to do
and wouldnt put you in Risk. also remember you have a right to say No! to any tests.
if you feel not like taking it. for whatever reason you have, its your right to refuse.
and to also get a 2nd opp on the matter.
Iv taken a lot of stress tests over the years, almost passed out on a few ! and had to stop others early. as im out of shape ! and on medications for h.b.p.
so sometimes, its not always the best test to take. there are other tests Doctors can do.. that dont push you to the limits.
A stress test will not cause thrombosis. But an event of an occlusion of a major vessel can be incidental to a stress test!. Vital signs are closely monitored, and there may be some risk to arrhytmia if one is predisposed to problems associated with a very fast uncontrolled heart rate. The risk is the greatest at the beginning of the test.
