Cardiac cath

I was told that they will be able to do the minimal invasave repair on my mitral valve but before I do this the doctor in another state is wanting a right and left cath which should be done this friday.  Is there anything that I should know prior to having this or anything to watch for after the procedure.  I am 44 and in good health with exception to the mitral valve and am currently on comadin, tisaic, avapro, magox, liquibid, and xanax.  thanks

It is standard to get a cath before a heart surgery.  This way if there are any blockages in your arteries they can be bypassed at the same time.  A heart cath is a routine procedure and has a very low complication rate.  They will give you specific directions for their lab prior to the cath.  Good luck.
