Dear Rena,
Cardiac rehabilitation is in general an individualized daily exercise program that 'gets you
back on your feet' and keeps your heart healthy as there are few things as good for the heart as
daily exercise is good for the heart. Open heart surgery has a recovery period of 4-6weeks, and that
is the time it should take to get back to normal, also in that time, most surgeons prefer you not
lift more than 10pounds as it is in this time that your sternum (breast bone) is healing.
Information provided in the heart forum is intended for general medical informational
purposes only, actual diagnosis and treatment can only be made by your physician(s).
