Cardiac symptoms

I have been having episodes of tachycardia for the last year or so. I  awake from my sleep by a feeling of weakness, chestpain and very fast heart rate. I awake feeling like i am truly going to passout or even die... I have had several hospital stays and  a full cardiac workup. all test were negative for any cardiovascular disease. My cardialogist thinks it may be SVT but does not want to do EPS studies until he knows where in my heart the tachycardia is coming from. I have been on holter monitors and we are discussing a loop monitor for extended studies. I truly am at wits end. I am wondering if maybe it is a vagus nerve proplem and my body is going into fight or flight when I have these symptoms. I just hate having these episodes, even though my Dr. says it is not a life threatening problem , each episode I feel as though i am truly gonna die... Sorry it may sound weird but it is very scary and i need to find out why my heart goes into these SVT and they never show up on any test.

I would suggest an implantable loop recorder, which can stay in for 18 months and record any such events. Your cardiologist wants to know where it is coming from because the risks are different depending on location, and it may not be possible to approach some of these at most centers. Are you on a beta blockers and or antiarrhythmics? These are very useful for most patients to decrease or even eliminate these symptoms.
Generally speaking, unless sustained for hours, these are not life threatening problems, and can be worked up as an outpatient.
