Cardiologist today

Well, it didn't go quite as expected. My Cardiologist didn't seem to have my stress echo results from February, so she will be writing with any decisions made from those. If the results show no problems, then I will simply be treated as best as possible with medication. I am now back on the dreaded beta blockers YUK.

I guess I'm lucky because I can distinguish the different discomforts and what they are. As for the Nitro patches, I could only use them for a couple of days because the headaches were ridiculous. I was walking around with a bag of peas on my head. I still don't think I have spasms. I was taken off nitro by my doctor and put onto calcium channel blockers, which made my back teeth fall apart. Now I'm off those and back on beta blockers. Although I hate the way they make you feel lethargic, they do help a lot with discomfort.

Bless you for looking after your mother! There are lots of factors there that can make your mother's care very difficult (anxiety & dementia). Do the best you can, utilize your resources, & take care of yourself, too, so you can take care of mom.

Best regards,

Having problems distinguishing the different types of chest pain is certainly a dilemma. I work in the emergency department, and I have seen so many different presentations of acute myocardial infarction (heart attack) through the years. For those who are diabetic, for example, they might not have any chest pain. Please, don't be afraid to follow-up on your chest pain.

Best regards,

I don't know how to distinguish between the pain from the spasms and a heart attack, since in my case, the chest pain is the same.  I am afraid I may ignore the chest pain of a heart attack and end up with more damage than I have now.  They say I will be able to tell, but I wasn't able to last April.  I feel great this week, but I feel I am living a crap shoot.  I never know how I will feel the next week.  Oh well, I have so much going on all the time I don't have time to think about it.  It would drive me crazy.  Well, so are you still having chest pain or any other symptoms currently?  Did you get the patch, and if so, how did that work for you?

I was on BB for two years and hated them. Feels like a ball and chain around your heart. Anyway, one good thing to come of the meeting is that she agrees with me in that I do not have spasms. She believes the same as I do, the artery started to have a few spasms due to the amount of work done.

Do you have problems with the beta blockers?  It took some time but, for now, the combination of the beta blocker, ccb & ace inhibitor seem to be keeping my spasms in check.
