Cardiomyopathy and Thyroid Co-relation

Cardiomyopathy and Thyroid Co-relation

My son-in-law, age 25, 6'4" 160 lb, and a diabetic, was recently diagnosed (yesterday) with a form of cardiomyopathy after having suffered (in the last 3-4 weeks) severe chest pains, numbing of the left side of his body, inability to get more than 2 hours of sleep in an evening, constant and severe exhaustion. When the doctor told us of this diagnosis (after a heart cath was performed during which the doctor proclaimed that the arteries were in great shape), my son-in-law's parents informed the doctor of a past thyroid problem with their daughter. I'm curious as to whether there could have possibly been a misdiagnosis based upon this new bit of information - possible Thyroid problems. I understand from quite a bit of research that I have done that some thyroid problems can have similar if not the same symptoms as Cardiomyopathy. By-the-way, the doctor is now having his thyroid checked.
