Cardioversion for atrial fibrilation

I had been on Quinidine & lanoxin for four years it recently didn!t
control it. My Dr suggest I go to the hospital to switch to Rythmol for
the fib, I stayed three days it worked, I came home and after nine days
my heart went out of rythm again, I was then put on Coumadin along with
the lanoxin and was told to wait two months so there would be no clots,
we would then go to the hospital for cardioversion. I had the conversion
done Monday May 3rd and was put on Amiodarone plus Atenolol my heart
rate dropped to forty while sleeping at night so on May 5th a pacemaker
was inserted ,I returned home and six days after the conversion I went
out of rythm again. I am now back on Coumadin, Amiodarone, Lasix, K-Dur
Atenolol . My question is I thought I was fine, feeling well and strong
but when I walk through a large store or do anything physical I get
short of breath  , tired and weak, I am afraid to push it. My heart rate
resting is 80 the pacer is set for 60 although on other medication my
heart rate was always 58. I am 70 but am  energetic, love to do physical
work and be on the run. Is this condition now permanent ? Or will it
take longer    than a month of recovery for the     new mediation to  be
effective? I am very depressed.
