Carotid Artery Blockage w/chest pain
4 yrs. ago I had a carotid artery doppler done and it showed I had blockage in my r/carotid. Then 2 years ago I started being symptomatic, I could hear the blood pumping in my ears and such, so my doctor had me repeat the tests and it showed about a 50% blockage. I started having really bad headaches and started taking medication for that. Over the last 2 years I have had all sorts of health issues (6 mths. in cast, a surgery to repair broken foot from being ran over, 3 surgeries for hysterectomy). Since October I have had dizziness and felt as though I was going to pass out and so I made another appt. doctor ran some test and scheduled another doppler. When I went in the tech. that ran the test asked me if they had seen me before and I told him "yes, twice." He said that everything looked good and that there wasn't much blockage. WHAT! Is that possible? Can you go from having about 50% 2 yrs. ago to it looking better now? Then 3 weeks ago I woke up one morning, doing the normal morning routine and about an hour later started having pain in the back of my neck. It later moved into my shoulder blade, then to my clavicle. Later my left arm started hurting and then my chest felt as if someone dropped a weight on it. I freaked. Everything I had ever read told me I was having a heart attack. So I went to bed. I went to the E.R. a couple of hours later and they did the EKG, blood work and x-ray, doctor said everything looked good. After a few hours I went home and after a few more hours the pain went away. The next day was good, for awhile. The next afternoon the same thing happened, only worse. I was walking from the parking garage to my hotel room and when it hit this time I was praying to my maker. I couldn't catch my breath and it felt like my right eye was going to explode out of my head. After checking in, I went to bed and things were okay for two days. Then it hit one more time. This time it wasn't as bad, but still scary. So I went to see a doctor and he decided that it was a migraine. %#@#%^%#^ So I am frustrated to say the least. I am 5'8" and I weigh about 133lbs. I am very healthy and exercise. I have thyroid disease. My bloodwork is all ways great! My downfalls are that my dad had a heart attack in his 50's and my mom had a hemorraghic stroke in her 50's. Please help, if you can think of anything. I know this was lengthy and I apologize. I don't like to go to the doctor and explain my symptoms cause they give me some off the wall diagnosis... (Maybe I will write them a letter. What do you think?)
