Carotid Artery Pain

I am 41 years old, don't smoke, I exercise and eat relatively healthy.  I recently lost vision in my right eye, I went to the emergency room and they ran a bunch of test.  My vision restored in about 1 hr.  After the series of test the doctor came back and told me that my right internal artery was 100% blocked.  the sent me home a week later on blood thiners and a cholestorl pill.  Cholestorl was barely over the suggested.  Anyway, I'm waiting for a 2nd opinion with UCLA which won't happen until the end of March (soonest I could get in).  I have seen my GP doctor once a week, and have mentioned to them that I have been having headaches and the I am now experiencing pain on the right side of my neck, in what i believe to be my carotid artery.  The pain is a very sharp pain that only last a couple of seconds, and is sporadic.  The pain can last about a minute or two, I'm scared as to what this could be and am not getting any answers.  Any answers or place you can direct me would be helpful.

Thanks

my husband is only 42 years old 5'8'' 140lbs since he's been a man. Now has 4 stents in my right coronary artery due to 99% blockage, he was put on block thinner plavix, lipitor, low dose asprin.

after the surgery, he felt sharp pain under his right ribcage which feels like bubbles that pushes up from deep within the stomach and into the wall of the stomach, he felt very intense pain. His cardiologist said he thinks and his pcp said they believe it was gas. Now it's been 2 years and the pain has subsided with a faint pain every now and again.  I'm not a doctor, but if you ask me I believe the pain is from plavix of which he still takes even after 2 years.

Make sure and take your medication and get more test done quickly. Not to scare you, but take it seriously because it's your heart 100% block is a lot of blockage. Try to live a stress free life because i think stress kills much more than cholesterol since most heart patient don't have high cholesterol. Choose the best heart hospital and get 2nd and 3rd opinion fast rather than stay on just blood thinner and if need be you may choose stenting. best of luck.

Put in for as many opinions as you can get while keeping your confidence in the medical experts high, even when its hard. You want to find out exactly what it is blocking your artery (IE cholesterol or clotting etc) and how much reliant tissue is still left and/or how healthy the tissue is. Ask questions about proper diet for your heart condition. Find out if your doctors/facilities provide any heart rehab exercises. Also, over-ask about Rx's to help you along with treatment, but review everything given to you. Don't smoke anymore if you do. I'll be praying for you. Tell us your solution and updates as they come along.

Something you can expect without treatment with the left or right internal right coronary artery being completely blocked is the complete death tissue it supplies, this does not mean you will die. It technically cuts off oxygen and can likely be killing a portion of your heart or body tissues. At that point the artery is virtually gone. Many continue to live without certain heart arteries.
