What can sause blockages in the arteies of the heart to occur in less than a year. My father had a heart cath less than a year ago and there was an artery that was approx 45 to 50 blocked. He was having shortness of breath this why this was done. Dr's said that it didn't need attenton at this point. Over the last ten months he has been having what he calls episodes where get short of breath, light headed, and pressure in chest at times also at times his Bp will drop while this is occuring. He had another stress test and other tests to see what is going on and he a 90% blockage in the artery that was 45 to 50% persent blocked last year and an additional three blockages of 40 to 70%. What can make these blockages occur in such a short amount of time, these have occured very rapidly when normally these seem to occur in most people in a span of 5 to 10 years or more. He has never really had much problems with his cholesterol being high and such.
you didnt mention whether your father is diabetic.. If your father is diabetic, even if it is well controlled also, this can happen.
another factor which accelerates this is, lack of exercises. As he is getting shortness of breath after a physical exertion he must not have done any exercises..
afterall there is a genitcal factor too.. For some people the decease may take years for an attack, but, dome people develop as less as 6 months also....
