Causes of memory loss after heart surgery.

I am a soon to be 55 year old male who had double-bypass heart surgery in 1999.  I had been a long term employee with a major agency.  After recovering, I returned to work and began noticing that there where certain things that I could not fully remember about many tasks that I performed.  I worked hard at regaining at least my basic knowledge
of these jobs, and eventually I became comfortable with my ability to function.  This is still an everyday condition that
I struggle with.  At first, I was a little afraid to discuss this issue, feeling that it would jeopardize my credibility and my
position.  I have since gained my confidence, and I am not so fearful anymore.  There has always been this lingering
question of wondering was I alone in this situation.  Finally, I said to myself, just "Google it!"  And here I am.  Thanks
for all the comments offered, and like my surgery itself, I give the highest praise to the medical community for saving
my life and giving me a new beginning.  Can you please encourage a continual discussion of this issue?
I am also a musician, and strange enough, this condition has had the opposite effect.  It has given me a wider musical
vision, and also a greater affinity to my instrument.  Art, as well, is one of our greatest healing forces.  Let us continue
