Chest Discomfort - Puzzlement

by Cody, Sep 28, 1999 12:00AM
Dear CCF,
Since having an angioplasty about two years ago I jog every day for 30 minutes and never experience any chest discomfort.  However, there are days when I feel a mild chest discomfort for hours on end that can last for two or three days at a time, never occurring during exercise but always at rest.  My cardiologist has given me a number of stress tests and thallium stress tests all with normal results.  Can this chest discomfort be side effects from such medications as vasotec, imdur, atenolol, aspirin,  diuretics, or possibly a low fat diet?  Or can it possibly be attributed to musculoskeletal reasons?  I am trying to rule out cardiac causes.
Thank You - Tim

Dear Tim,

This may very well be musculoskeletal pain.  It is unlikely that medication would cause this.  It appears that from a cardiac standpoint you are doing very well.  I would discuss these concerns with your cardiologist as it is difficult to make diagnoses in this forum.
