Chest Pain

by andrea, Sep 15, 1999 12:00AM
I am a 28 year old female who on occation has a sharp pain around the heart that intesifys when I take a deep breath.  I am unable to find a common trait on when these attacks occur.  I am in otherwise good health and the pain seems to go away within 30-50 seconds.  I have been having them on and off since I was about 16 and have always referred to them as "my heart attack"  I don't want to miss any danger signs and being a young female I don't want the doctor to either.  Could it be indigestion?  Thank you in advance for your advice.

Dear Andrea,
Your chest discomfort does not sound typical for cardiac pain and may be indigestion.  HOwever, please discuss these symptoms with your internist to determine if a further wourk up is required.
