Chest Pain....But No Chest Pain

Chest Pain....But No Chest Pain

Hello,

When I am at rest I constantly have chest discomfort….Left side under breast.  Pain does not travel anywhere else.  Parked right there.  I have been to the ER on more than one occasion and they seem to dismiss the discomfort as non cardiac chest pain after running the standard ECG, Chest X-ray and blood work.  Even had a stress test a year ago (nuclear) and that too came up fine.  Here’s where things get weird….When I exercise I do not have any pain whatsoever.  Is that not contrary to angina symptoms?  Just trying to avoid yet another trip to the ER.

Thanks,

Angina is typically chest discomfort that occurs with EXERTION and is often times relieved with REST. Other accompanying symptoms include jaw/arm/neck pain, shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, light-headeness, or fainting.

If your pain is occurring at rest and is absent while you are running, and you have had a thorough physical/history with accompanying tests recently (ECG, blood work, and a negative stress test), it would all suggest a non-cardiac etiology.

Other causes of chest discomfort include problems with the lungs, GI tract, skin or underlying muscles and bones.
