Chest Wall Pain

by SOURYA, Feb 07, 2007 12:00AM
I have a very long history of "Chest Wall" pain. Right after the birth of my daughter in 1998 I started to experience really bad chest pain that literally brought me to tears. Each visit to the ER over the years I was given the same diagnosis of Chest Wall Pain. In 2005 I was referred to a cardiologist and I am concerned about the information below regarding both trivial mitral regurgitation and tricuspid regurgitation. What does the terms actually mean? My mom had a mild stroke before and my Grandmother (Maternal) has also suffered from heart problems in the past. In your opinion does the findings below warrant a second opinion? My worst fear is that something trivial would actually become something serious. Structurally, everything was determined to be normal but I'm still concerned

The left atrial cavity area is 0.0 cm?
during systole.
MITRAL VALVE - The mitral valve is normal. There is trivial mitral
regurgitation.
TRICUSPID VALVE - The tricuspid valve is normal. There is trivial tricuspid
regurgitation.

LV Diastolic Diameter 3.9
LV Systolic Diameter 2.6
LV Ejection Fraction 55

Leaky valves are graded 1-4 or as trivial, mild, moderate or severe.  Trivial is relatively insignificant and probably requires no follow up at all.  If a sample was taken from a population, a generous percentable would probably present with some (trivial) leakage.

An ejection fraction of 55% is excellent.  "Normal" is considered 55 - 60, but can vary slightly from facility to facility.

Hope that helps.
