Line,
It is sometimes difficult to tell the difference between chest pain syndromes. However, it should be reassuring that these symptoms have been evaluated.
Certainly you should seek attention if there is any new symptom quality, intensity, or location or if your usual measures to alleviate your current pain syndrome do not work.
Most are pretty in tune with their body and do realize that something is different from their other type of pain.
hope this is a start.
good luck
What triggers the pain, how long does it last and does anything relieve it? Does it come back and go away? Have you had a MUGA scan or angiogram to test for vascular spasm? Do you have diabetes?
I ask because I was misdiagnosed with costochondriatis and espophaegal spasm before a specialized test found coronary endothelial dysfunction, a marker for heart disease. I also have aortic valve disease. I take nitrates and an ACE-inhibitor and am feeling well after months of trial and error.
Women are often misdiagnosed. I hope the CCF doctor can share his or her valuable insight in the complexities of accurately diagnosing females.
Be well,
Carolina
Thanks for input, Linda

Did anyone mention costochrondritis to you, that is what I have been dxed with. It is inflamation (inflammation) of the chest wall. Oh my aching ribs.

Take care!

with my chest it has been hurting for about a week a day after my birthday..it always hurts no matter what I do I could be doing things or just be laying down relaxing..and I get these real bad spasms it feels like its more in my chest then in my breast and my right breast is rather tender too..and the spasms last for a few secs but feels like it is longer..and I am getting them all the time..the spasms come no matter what I am doing..I been really trying to take it easy and relax..doesn't seem to help with the pain..I have notice when I take deep breaths and when I laugh it hurts a lot more..it hurts when I breath as well.
and my side hurts all the time hurts more when I try to do things with my right arm or when I lift it up...
my right shoulder blade has been hurting for a week and 3 days..I though I got bit by something..I had a tiny bite on my lower shoulder blade..but I noticed the pain was in other places then where the bite was on my shoulder blade..that's when I noticed that my blade wasn't hurting because of the bite..well I get really shape pain in my shoulder blade..and it hurts all the time...
things that might have triggered the pain: for my birthday my mom took me shopping..and I tried on a shirt that was way to tight and it had a built in bra in it..and when I tried to take it off it hit my chest area real hard.
Later that day My boyfriend took me swimming and when I did a lap I was holding my nose under the water. I probably was holding my breath for a min. or two. I haven't went swimming in months.
Things I have tried to make it better: I put a icepack in my bra..cold as it was it numbed the pain..for a short time..
My boyfriend told me to try to apply some heat rub to it..and I put arthritis hot on my chest area and on my side and my shoulder blade..and he told me to try to rub vicks vaporub on my chest and put a little in my nose..it didn't work I been doing that for about 3 days..and he picked me up some wellpatch backache pain relieving pads and you can apply it other areas other then your back..and I put it on my chest as best as I could and then put the heat rub on my side and my shoulder..then put a sports bra on so the patches would stay in place..
and he also mentioned to put pressure on my side to see if the pain would ease up. I noticed when I put pressure on my side it stops the pain while I am putting pressure on it..
it has seemed to help a little but not much..
