Chest pain and low lung diffusing capacity

I have been having s.o.b. and chest pain upon slight exertion for a long time. Have had heart cath and no clogged arteries. My lung spirometry test showed diffusing capacity of 64% of predicted. All other tests okay except some Afib. Could the low diffusing capacity be causing my problems and is there anything one can do about it??? The spirometry and plethysmographic lung volumes are within normal limits.

Lung disease often presents as shortness of breath. Pulmonary function testing test the ability of your lungs to inhale, exhale and take in oxygen form the air. The fact that your diffucing capacity is low is suggestive of a problem with the lung which certainly can make you short of breath. I would discuss your findings with a pulmonologist.
