Chest pain witin 1 hour of nightime sleep

by Jhg555, Feb 19, 2007 12:00AM
Within 1 hour of going to sleep at night I experience a discomfort/pain in the upper left side (above Heart) of chest. It feels like something is being squished, or maybe described as the feeling you get when you place the end of a vacuum on your hand or arm. This only happens once and always at night within an hour of sleeping. I have had heart work ups but all test have been negative.

Jhg,

It hard when all test come back negative and yet you have no answer. Remember, a lot of things can cause chest pain. If all of your heart work ups have been negative, perhaps it's not your heart. For example, gastric reflux disease will often cause people to experience chest pain after laying down due to relaxation of the esophageal sphincter and pain from the reflux. I would discuss your symptoms with an internist and move away from a cardiologist.  Specialist tend to look through narrow goggles.

good luck
