Chest pains related to headache drugs

  A friend of mine aged 60 has been on medication for migraine headaches for a few years now. He takes Esgic Plus and now recently has started taking Feverfew with caffeine and Depakote as a preventative. He also was introduced to the Triptans, sumatriptan etc. Since starting to take these he has developed mild chest pain. His blood pressure has always been low and still is. He has stopped taking the triptans as a side effect is chest pain. But the pain still continues. It is not severe, but very mild and sometimes is hardly noticeable. Is it possible that any of these drugs or the caffeine in both the Esgic and Feverfew could be effecting his heart? Is it cause for concern?

None of these medications have any known deleterious cardiac side-effects.  I would suggest following-up with your Internist to further evaluate these symptoms.
