Chitosan

by Bob-V, Nov 04, 1998 12:00AM

Saw an article for a weight loss pill, that is called Chitosan.  It is supposedly ground shell fish.  The idea is to take these pills whenever you have a high fat meal.  They absorb the fat and allow you to pass it.  They also claim cholestrol reduction.
Is there any merit to these claims?  I need to loose weight plus lower cholestrol, but this sounds too good.

Dear Bob,
Do not know at all about this 'Chitosan' but I do know a gimic when I see one.  You need some counseling from a dietician, or just the following lesson in reality:
There is no way to lose weight except by the hard way-CHANGE YOUR EATING HABITS AND GET THE FAT CONTENT IN YOU DAILY DIET DOWN TO LESS THAN 20% OF YOUR TOTAL CALORIC INTAKE.
Do yourself a favor and stop wasting your energy looking for the easy way out, cause time and time again the only PROVEN remedy for excess weight is diet and exercise (daily aerobic exercise that is for 40 minutes or more.)
It is actually dangerous to your health and burdensome of your wallet to even try these 'gimic' diets.  If it was a proven way to lose weight without sacrificing your health, I would have heard of it because it would be studied
scientifically and approved by the FDA as safe and effective.  Good Luck.
