Cholesterol/Liver Enzymes

by Scorpio11675, May 09, 2008 10:05PM
I was diagnosed with extremely high cholesterol (total 268, LDL 192). My doctor put me on Liitor and instructed me to change my diet, and excercise, etc. I have done all that but the Lipitor was making me sick so he changed me to Pravastatin. I was doing ok on this, but recently started having mild pains in the back, side, and mild chest pains. Upon seeing my doctor, she did more bloodwork and discovered my liver enzymes are elevated. I am thinking this is due to the meds I was given for my cholesterol, since my liver was in great condition beofre the meds. She took me off of the statin drugs and I am having more bloodwork done to check my cholesterol levels again. With my cholesterol being that high, will diet, and excercise alone help? Also, do you think my liver enzymes will go back down? I am a little nervous since being taken off of the statin because I fear my cholesterol will go up again (if it has went down any) and it will eventually lead me to heart disease, or worse. Please advise, and thank you.
