Classic vs Non-classic MVP

I have a question. Now that I have been diagnosed with the whole MVP thing I only have more questions. My doctor says mine is mild with trivial leak. He is not worried at all about it. However, I still have questions"

(1) If its mild do I have classic or non classic? From what I have read, classic is the one you dont want to have.

(2) Also have read that when you inherit it, your chances of problems down the road are far greater. My father has it.

Any thoughts?

You are fine, believe them when they tell you.

Think about it this way, do you want to get extremely involved with studying  and worrying about something "trivial".?   It's hard to find any person who has had an echocardiogram that doesn't have trivial leakage from something.

As for inheritance, MVP is variably penetrant . Different people inherit different degrees depending on what other factors are turned "on" or "off".

Mine is mild, my son's is moderate. I wish we could switch that around believe me. My uncle had a valve that was extremely bad and he died younger than I am now.

You are lucky to be in the trivial category, it's nothing to be concerned about. The American Heart Asssociation says you don't even need antibiotics before seeing the dentist.
