Concerned: hbp and pains

Posted By Kel on March 28, 1999 at 15:42:22:

About 4-5 months ago I went to a specialist for some heart palpitations.
I had a stress test, chest x-ray, EKG, and later an echo.  The doctor said
that everything was fine and I trust his judgement.  However they were a
little concerned with my blood pressure,so I purchased a monitor and lately
it has been too high. For instance last night it was 160/104, and I was simply
getting ready for bed. I should mention that I don't drink or smoke; I am only
20 yoa, 5'4", and 125 lbs.  I exercize fairly regularly.  That reading was higher
than normal, but even throughtout the day my pulse is often above 90.  Also
with this high reading last night I was experiencing pain in my left arm which
continues even as a write this.  I have no other chest pain; except for a little
fullness after dinner which went away then the arm pain began.  I don't know
what is causing this.  There is a history of high blood pressure and heart
disease in my family.  I don't want to waste time and money by going back to
the doctor; is it necessary? Thanks for your time.
