Concerned

Hello, I am a 28 year old female and I had a heart ablation done on 4/10/03.  The doctor found 3 bad electrodes that he had to fix.  I don't go back for a follow up until June and I have some concerns.  I still feel fluttering but not as intense as it was before.  Is this normal?  How long before they go away?  Also, I forgot to ask the dr what chamber the electrodes were in.  If they were found in the upper chamber what is the percentage of it happening in the lower?  I used to go to the gym before I had my procedure done but been a little nervous about going back.  I do a lot of treadmill and I'm nervous about getting my heart rate up that high.  Reassurance and help from anyone would be greatly appreciated...

Thanks

Shelly,

Thanks for the post.

Unfortunately, the chance of recurrence of fluttering depends on what it was that was ablated (and on who did the ablation!).

If you now have episodes of fluttering that are similiar to the symptoms prior to the ablation, then recurrence is certainly a possibility and needs to be evaluated.  I would make an appointment to see the doctor, and I would do it prior to returning to the gym.

Hope that helps.

Hi  I had an ablation done in 2000 also.  I still get some fluttering as well as flushing feeling.   My Doc told me i will always get that feeling at times just like everyone else does but we notice it more because it would kick into tackycardia and normal people dont.  He says its like the spark without the flame.   Good luck and welcome to the world of no more of those damn svts.  Im sure you hated them as much as me.

I'd be grateful to know what an EP study is like - I have one on Tuesday and am a little nervous.
Thanks.
