Confusion

Hello,

There seems to be lots of confusion about the categories of blood pressure. We all know that 120/80 is the normal bp. What is the high-normal, borderline, mild, moderate and high bps are?
What does the NLB say about it?

PS: Does a sleeping position contribute to BP temporarily?

Pleasant reading should not raise the blood pressure. Mental stress (as from complex arithmetic) can raise the blood pressure several points - just how much (or if at all) depends on the individual.

Both systolic and diastolic blood pressure are important. Outdated thinking was that the diastolic blood pressure is more important, but doctors no longer believe this. Blood pressure normally declines during sleep.

Abnormal elevated blood pressure is above 140/90. Of course, the higher above this number the blood pressure is, the more serious the condition.
Blood pressure normally declines with sleep.
