Congestive Heart Failure

I just found out I have CHF I was diagnosed with Acute Systolic heart failure, ejection fraction of 14%, Ventricular ectopy, both ventricular  tachycardia and frequent premature ventricular contractions. I also have mitral valve prolaspe.  Was the MVP the cause of the CHF.  If I was sent home from an ER where a doctor did not notice the CHF and went back do my normal things thinking I had allergies and waited an entire week later until my breathing problems got so bad that I could breath at all.  Could this have caused my low ejection fraction?  Please respond.

There are a number of reasons that can lead to systolic dysfunction of the heart. MVP can certainly lead to heart failure especially if there is a significant degree of a mitral regurgitation (leaky valve). This would have been present on echocardiogram. Other causes (that you have mentioned) include a PVC-induced or tachymyopaty that results from a high burden of PVC's or persistent ventricular arrhythmias (such as VT). These are best evaluated by a holder monitor as well as by an electrophysiologist. True ventricular tachycardia can be extremely dangerous as this can degenerate into ventricular fibrillation.
