Controling HBP

I'm 62.5 years old, have HBP from a genetic condition, coming from my paternal garnadmother. I'm presently under 3 medications, Lotrel, Toprol and Spiranolactone. But my BP is almost always on the 140-150 x 80-90 range (changing to 115-105 x 60-55 laying down, before sleeping). Good colesterol (total ~ 160, HDL~ 38) and underwent stress and echo tests recently with good results. My present doctor takes it as acceptable but my previous one was always concerned about it (I even did a kidney MRI, OK). How and what should I do to lower the BP?

Thanks, Jon. I exercise (swimming, byking, treadmill), but not EVERY day. The cardiologist give me an OK to exercise since during the stress test I went about 10 heart beats higher than expected without an abnormality. I should try this and also loose some weight (presently ~ 192lbs for a 5'8" tall), very little 'pot belly'.

Do you exercise? Exercise is a great way to lower HBP. You need to get your doctor's OK before you start an exercise program. 30 mins most days of the week of a moderate level will help reduce your BP quickly.
