Despite heart palpations, does not having an erratic pulse  indicate that what one is experiencing is not afib? Thanks again.

Dear Rossi,

If your pulse is regular it suggests that one is in sinus rhythm even though they may be experiencing palpitations. When  seeing a person with atrial fibrillation associated with palpitations, I will often ask them to measure their pulse during the episodes of palpitations. If it is regular we often assume that they are not experiencing atrial fibrillation at that time. However, the most definitive way is to have an electrocardiogram or rhythm strip performed.

Thanks for your question,
