My pulse rate varies 55 to62.Recent studies you areputtingthe central aortic pressures up.Nadolol is cheap however shouldn't i be on Bystolic? I am 75.I F of 57 .  Quard bypass 23 years . Never had angina, only dyspnea on stress testing , with moderate enlargement rt atria. on utrasound.

It matters not how you lower your heart rate and your blood pressure in your condition.

Thank you,Dr. Messerli review states atenolol is bad and it has some effects beyond heart-rate reductrion and it is the central pressure that's all telling rather than the bp in the arm??? Could you comment on this warning please!

Atenolol is contraindicated in renal failure, but otherwise is a good beta blocker.  With no obstruction in your arm, there should be little difference in peripheral and central blood pressure.  Keep in mind that most studies that studies antihypertensive drugs used peripheral blood pressure measurements.
