I recently took a CT scan of my heart to show the presence of calcium. It showed I had a score of 212. The Dr. then recommended me for a nuclearNuclear ventriculography stress test. I was injected with a nuclearNuclear ventriculographyisotopePet scan, waited an hour, did some sort of chest X-ray that took about 20 minutes then did a stress test on a treadmill. I was then given another injection, told to go eat something greasy then return in an hour. Upon returning, I was given the same chest X-ray that took 20 minutes. The Dr. told me that I did not have any narrowing of my arteries. I was put on a very strict diet and prescribed Vitorin (SP?).
Yes, calcium scoring is the most reliable indicator of your risk for future heart attack. I can tell you right now your doctor is treating only fraction of your problem just based on your lipid test results and the Vytorin prescription. If you are serious about preventing and even reversing your heart disease I would recommend you check out www.trackyourplaque.com What they are doing is phenominal.
