Could this be cardiac related?

Could this be cardiac related?

Hello, I am a 19 year old male, and I'm having these problems for 5 months now.
I've spent countless hours online trying to found out what the cause to my problems could be while waiting
for my GP to figure it out, but have been unsuccessful finding out what is wrong with my body.

My symptoms began at the 28th of may 2011. After playing a game with a friend of mine, I felt like my heart was
racing and was worried about it. I opened a window to get some fresh air, which made me relax a bit.
After my friend went away, my heart started beating faster and faster, and I went into a negative spiral of being worried about my heartbeat, and getting a faster heartbeat. I did not measure how fast my heart rate was, but now I think it was around 180 bpm.
I was so scared and confused on what was wrong (never had heart problems before), so I called 911.
The woman on the phone tried calming me down, which worked, my heart stopped racing, but I felt some minor chest discomfort (no wonder after this exertion of my heart). At night my heart started beating fast again, and I felt like I was dying. This lasted from 24.00 till 02.00 after which I finally got to sleep because of tiredness.
In the months that followed I felt less aware during the day and very tired. I also had a stinging pain in my chest
(left and right side, but not both at the same time), so I went to my GP.
He ran a blood test on me and told me to quit drinking alcohol and caffeine (I used to drink 4 mugs of strong coffee every day), so I did.
The blood test turned out fine, but quit drinking caffeine did not resolve the symptoms (it did relieve them though).
After trying other things to improve my overall energy levels and having had numerous trips to the GP, I
was finally sent to a cardiologist. After running 2 ECG's over the course of a few weeks it turns out I have
iRBBB, but the cardiologist said that it should be normal for somebody my age.

Do these symptoms sound familiar? Might I have some cardiac disease?

Having a heart rate in the 180's that is episodic is not normal and could represent a disorder of the electrical system of the heart. An incomplete right bundle branch block is often an incindental finding and can be a completely benign issue, but may also signal some underyling issues related to the conduction system. The best way to determine what rhythm you are experiencing is to have a holter monitor peformed which will continuously record the electrical activity of your heart over 2-3 days. It would be important to identify the rhythm first before recommending a certain treatment (atrial fibrillation, flutter, AVNRT, atrial tachycardia, etc.).

First, thanks alot for taking your time to answer my question!
I am already scheduled for a holter monitor in 3 weeks, but I never experienced that fast heart rates ever again (even when scared), so I'll just see what the results will be. The thing is, that I'm getting episodes of depression because of the everlasting fatigue, but the fatigue gets better when I sleep well, and I finally managed to do just that this night so I'm already feeling much better.

Ok, I got the results of my tests, and it turns out my heart is fine. (I had an 24h holter, bicycle stress test,ECG and an echo).
Can somebody please give me some other things I could look at and which could cause my symptoms?

My symptoms are:
-fatigue (as in heavy head, difficulty concentrating on mental work)
-chest pain
-sometimes slow heart rate right before going to sleep
-difficulty getting to sleep (takes me 1 to 3 hours)

These sound alot like my symptoms, you can read more about mine on my post but I've gone as far as having an EP study done with nothing found.  I tried to ignore it for a long time writing it off a probably anxiety or stress but its only becoming for frequent and having more frequent episodes.  All my tests have been fine.  I'm still trying different physicians, and after reading up on the internet I'm going to ask about possible thyroid problems or adrenal problems.....I'm running out of tests and getting no answers....pretty frustrating.  I'll let you know if I find out anything and please do the same.  Good luck.

Hi aes83, my problems are probably not thyroid problems, as that was the first thing which was tested with the blood test I had.

I am currently looking into some dietary stuff to check for myself if vitamin deficiency can be the culprit.

Currently the things that (temporarily) relieved my fatigue alot are:
-eating eggs???
--I had one week during which almost felt normal but I did nothing special except eating 1,5 egg per day on average.
-exercising
--I've stopped going to jiujitsu lessons for 1,5 years now
--exercising helps to relieve stress, so maybe stress is still the problem?

HTH and good luck with your problems!

Hi I was wondering if u drink? I have tachycardia and most people that I have talked to say that after a night of drinking their heart rate is high all of the next day, and some nervous system problems,or u could be like me and just have an electrical problem. Make sure u drink alot of water, check your pulse as much as possible because if its outta control too long it could severly damage your heart like it did mine, hope u feel better

Hi, I notice on overall that I'm drinking a bit more water at night. I wake up thirsty often. During the daytime I started drinking tea instead of coffee, but I recently switched back to coffee without any noticable effects instead of being more awake for a short time.

The only weird thing with caffeïne is that when it kicks in when I am feeling very 'fatigued' is that I start feeling pumped AND fatigued which is very weird. When I drink caffeïne without alot of fatigue it works like it normally would.

I have been drinking last night (but went to bed a bit early), I drank like 3 glasses of beer. I just took my pulse and it's around 76.
My high pulse did not return any other time yet in the past 8 months, the only times I had a high pulse (I don't remember how high, certainly below 180) were when I was extremely worried and anxious about my heart.
These panic attacks have subsided for 2 months now (a BIG relief) though.

I have seen some improvement last week, but I am now kinda back into my state before that week. The only noticable thing I did that week was eating alot of eggs (1,5 each day on average).

I'm going to have to take an event monitor test, where I press a button when I have chest pains or an abnormal heart rate (either fast/slow). But I have to wait 2 weeks before I can get one.
