Coumadin and Plavix

by paulj3650, Sep 03, 2008 12:47AM
3 years ago, i had 2 blood clots above and below my knee and have been using coumadin since then.  1 and 1/2 years ago it was found that I have an 80% blocked femeral artery in my right leg and have been taking Plavix since that time.  I am now on both Plavix and coumadin every day.  Since I started the Plavix 1 1/2 years ago, I suffered a seizure and was thoroughly tested from both a neurological and cardiological/vascular standpoint.  Nothing has been discovered as a cause for that seizure.  I've gone now 1 and 1/2 years since that seizure, continuing to take the Plavix and Coumadin.  I just had another seizure last week and am at my wits end.  I truly believe I shouldn;t be on both Plavix and Coumadin and that aspirin should be replacing one of these drugs.  My blood test for PTINR are getting harder and harder to endure due to scar tissue in the veins.  Can you recommend or give any advice to me.  I have an appointment with my doctor on 9/5/2008 and want to tell him what I want to do.  He's a general practitioner and has no specialized training in vascular or cardiological conditions.  Thanks so very much for any response/advice you can share with me.
