Cut Cartoid Artery & Blood Loss

When the operated on me for a defective heart valve, they cut my Cartoid aretery and did not notice it until I had very siginificant blood loss, first question, why did they need to cut the artery?  The lady who sewed the artery said it was so bandly mangled that she had to sever it and start from there, also what it any damage to brain, heart, etc would occur due to the blood loss.  I was supposed to be in the hospital 5 days and home, ended up that I was in  a coma for 2 months, what afte reffects would be common after this experience?? Thanks in advance

If it were me, the first thing I'd do is ask my doctors, as they're the most familiar with your case, and know exactly what happened to you.
