Difference between Toprol and Toprol xl

by Jon64, Mar 25, 2009 10:08AM
I was prescribed Toprol XL recently, and have usually been taking Toprol......what's the difference?  With the Toprol XL, it seems that I've been more tired than usual.  Could my tiredness be from the change in meds?

This discussion is related to Medication switch from toporol xl to metoporol?.

I believe that Toprol XL is more of a time release medication, so that it stays at a constant level throughout the day.  It made my mom extremely tired also.  There is a beta blocker called Coreg that blocks more receptors.
