Dizziness

im taking atenolol-chlorthal 50-25 right now for two weeks but my problem is the dizziness is still there. It keeps bugging me everyday. Is this normal? Is there a way to get rid of the dizziness?. I've been diagnosed for hypertension last couple of months due to too much drinking of alcohol and drinking coffee. I went to my doctor last week and he prescribed me with antivert 25mg for dizziness he say's but it's still there. My blood pressure is fine not high not low. My lab test was fine kidney function, liver function, stuff like that was fine. And I'm wondering what causes this feeling?

Hi -You may not realize that you have posted your quesiton in the Multiple Sclerosis forum - my apologies if this is really where you want to look for answers.

You would want to post this over in one of the forums that deal with heart issues (hypertension) or balance/dizziness.  You can find a forum list at

http://www.medhelp.org/forums/list

My personal advice would be eliminate the coffee, alcohol, and stress and add in a visit to a well-trained ENT who can look for reasons for the dizziness.  Sometimes it is something simple like BPPV.

Here's a good website to learn more
