What you're describing is very normal. I've had two EP studies, and after the first one I developed a very large, painful hematoma (bruise) and it seriously felt like there was a grapefruit under my skin because the lump (blood, swelling) was so large. It was very sore to move/walk for about 4 days and sore to the touch for a bit longer. The bruising and lump took a good month to go away completly though.

The second EP study went much better and I had just minimal bruising and a MUCH smaller lump under the skin. It also wasn't as sore. The bruising and swelling went away much quicker as well.

They cut into your artery so of course there will be some bruising and soreness, and the lump your feeling I believe is just swelling and maybe a bit of blood from where they cut into you. I was told to come back if I developed fever, redness etc, anything that would lead me to think that one of my incision sites might be infected. So I definitely think what your feeling is normal. Just keep an eye on it for signs of infection and you should be fine! Good luck!
